Program overview

Private Lessons
Private lessons are one of the most important aspects in the development of a fencer. Private lessons provide intensive one-on-one instruction tailored to the individual fencer. In a private lesson, the coach teaches technique, tactics and a specific idea of fencing. These skills can then be directly applied to the fencing bout. Private lessons are 20 minutes long. *We recommend at least 2 private lessons per week. More competitive members will take 3 or 4 private lessons per week.
Group Classes
Group classes are an important part of training. Group classes provide an opportunity to sharpen an athlete’s skills. Group classes consist of a warm up, conditioning, footwork, drills and fencing. Classes are a mixed level group, giving an opportunity to learn from one another while improving your skill. Group classes are 90 minutes. *We recommend at least 2 group classes per week.
Getting Started
Start With Introductory Private Lessons
* Beginners, we recommend starting with 2 or 3 private lessons. In the private lessons you will learn the proper fencing stance, correct technique, how to hold the Epee and basic footwork. After your lessons, then you will be able to confidently and safely join our weekly group classes. Equipment is provided.
Join Our Group Classes!
* Once you have completed you introductory private lessons, you are ready to start joining our group classes! Most members will choose a combination of weekly private lessons plus group classes. For example, we recommend two group classes and two private lessons per week. Equipment is provided for the first months.
Have Fun!
* Fencing is a very technical and strategic sport. So work hard, ask questions and have fun! After a few months of consistent training, we will get you to your first competition!
